*World Nature Conservation Day!*
“Conservation means the wise use of the earth and its resources for the lasting good of mankind”– Gifford Pinchot
Celebrated on July 28 annually, World Nature Conservation Day recognizes that a healthy environment is the foundation for a stable and productive society and to ensure the well-being of the present and future generations, we all must participate to protect, conserve, and sustainably manage our natural resources.
Conservation is the care and protection of Earth’s natural resources including air, minerals, plants, soil, water, and wildlife so that they can be preserved for future generations. It includes maintaining diversity of species and ecosystems, as well as functions of the environment, such as nutrient cycling.
Wonder how you can get involved in practicing sustainability?Try turning off the faucet when you brush your teeth in the morning, or participate in a nature walk with some friends to appreciate the resources that surround us. The holiday may be celebrated one day out of the year, but why not think sustainably always?
Nature worship is indeed an integral part of the Indian Culture. On the occasion of World Nature Conservation Day, let’s all take a pledge to protect, conserve, and sustainably manage our natural resources and make this world a better and healthier place for our future generations. The world requires our constant care, to flourish and keep providing us it’s bountiful resources. The need of the hour is to generate this consciousness and spread awareness among the people about the wise usage of resources and keeping a close check on one’s action in order to make it a sustainable place to live for all.
