Access Control

Roles & Permissions

VidyaSchool uses role-based access control (RBAC) to ensure each user only sees and interacts with tools relevant to their responsibilities.

Note for All Users

This portal module is fully integrated with your dashboard profile. Contact administration if permissions are restricted.

Important Warnings

  • Never share your login credentials. Each user is responsible for activity under their account.
  • Students attempting to access teacher or admin routes will be redirected to the Unauthorized page.

Students have read-only access to their own academic data. Capabilities include: • View personal marks, report cards, and GPA. • View and pay fee ledger installments. • Access the library catalog and track borrowed books. • Read class notices and school circulars. • File complaint/support tickets directed at teachers or administration. • Update personal profile details (address, contact info). Students cannot view other students' data, submit grades, or publish notices.

Teacher Role

Teachers have read-write access to classroom tools. Capabilities include: • View and manage the class roster for assigned classes. • Enter, edit, and submit student marks for all exam types. • Publish notices and announcements to specific classes. • Submit leave requests and supply orders to administration. • Receive and respond to student complaint tickets. • View student profiles (contact info, commute details) for their classes only.

Accounts Clerk Role

Accounts clerks manage financial operations. Capabilities include: • Create, edit, and delete fee ledger entries for all students. • Record and verify manual payment transactions. • Apply scholarship concessions and waivers. • Generate and download batch fee reports. • View student financial history and outstanding balances.

Administrator Role

Administrators have full system access. Capabilities include: • Approve or reject teacher registration requests. • Manage all user accounts (create, suspend, delete). • Access all data across all roles. • Manage class and section configurations. • View complaint tickets from all sources and assign resolutions. • Access system-wide reports and analytics.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a teacher also be an accounts clerk?

No — roles are mutually exclusive. A single account can only hold one role. If a staff member has dual responsibilities, they would need two separate accounts (one per role).

Who do I contact if my role permissions seem wrong?

Contact your school administrator. They can audit your role assignment and correct any discrepancies in the admin panel.
